Jürgen Klopp will return to the touchline for the first time since leaving Anfield this weekend.
Klopp stepped down as Liverpool manager in May after a successful nine-year spell in charge, having led the club to Champions League and Premier League triumphs.
The German has been enjoying his time off and said he needed a break when he announced his decision earlier this year.
He was seen enjoying Euro 2024 as a fan and also on holiday in Mallorca in the summer.
But Klopp is now set to take charge of his first game in months when he returns to the touchline in Germany.
Jürgen Klopp will take charge of his first game since leaving Liverpool on Saturday
Klopp will coach during a testimonial for Polish duo Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski at Borussia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.
Piszczek and Blaszczykowski both made their mark at Dortmund, with both being key figures during Klopp’s time in charge of the German giants between 2008 and 2015.
The Polish pair were part of Dortmund’s Bundesliga-winning sides in 2011 and 2012 under Klopp.
They also came very close to winning the Champions League in 2013, finishing runners-up to Bayern Munich at Wembley in an all-German final.
Dortmund shared a video on social media to confirm Klopp’s involvement as coach for the match.
In a funny video, Piszczek told Blaszczykowski: “We need a coach and I have an idea, we will call the retired coach.”
Klopp came on stage wearing sunglasses and said: “You finally have your farewell match. Oh my God. And you want to train before the match. Are you stupid?”
Piszczek then mentioned that they had yet to decide which team Klopp would manage.
Klopp admitted: “I don’t care at all. I’m not worried at all. I do it like before, I start thinking about it five minutes before. Is the game sold out? I would buy a ticket if I wasn’t going anyway!”
Klopp has now been confirmed as coach of Blaszczykowski’s side for the farewell match.
Current Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin will play in the match, while Mats Hummels will return to say goodbye after joining Serie A club Roma after leaving the club on a free transfer this summer.
