Jurgen Klopp applauds & # 039; really good & # 039; begins after Liverpool defeated West Ham 4-0 in the Premier League opener

Jurgen Klopp praised his team's performance in a 4-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday

Jurgen Klopp was pleased with Liverpool's convincing start to the season, but warned that there will be much tougher tests ahead.

The Reds underlined their credentials in the Premier League title with a complete 4-0 loss to West Ham in their first game at Anfield.

Klopp's team has been chosen by many as the team most likely to challenge Manchester City for the crown, but the Liverpool coach does not get carried away by a result.

The German said: "We know our expectations and we realize that there is a really positive atmosphere around us in the preseason. It is good that people are positive, but this season will be incredibly difficult.

"We can not be anything different from the rival because we have not won anything since I arrived.

"We have to invest more, we have to fight more, we have to create more, that's the only thing we expect from ourselves, we'll see where it leads.

"West Ham will play, surely, a good season, but it's not the United States, the Citys, we know that and we have to be ready week after week for all the challenges."

Liverpool achieved the victory with Sadio Mane scoring twice between the efforts of Mohamed Salah and substitute Daniel Sturridge.

West Ham offered little, as the hosts dominated, but Klopp was reluctant to describe the performance as perfect.

He said: "It's a very good start, sure, it's a start, not perfect, but really good.

"Nobody knows exactly how valuable or valuable a preseason is, you see things in the preseason, but it's different, the Premier League is a proper fight and you wait, as a manager, for your team to be ready.

"For that was a clear start, it was good."

West Ham's new boss, Manuel Pellegrini, admitted that his team was outclassed, although he pointed out, with some justification, that Mane's second goal could have been ruled out for offside.

The former manager of Manchester City said: "It was a difficult game before the game, during the game and after the game.

"We knew we were playing against one of the best teams in the Premier League, they made it to the Champions League final and bought a lot of new players, we knew it was going to be difficult.

"I think Liverpool played better than us, they deserved to win, when you lose 4-0 you can not have excuses.

"But I think a couple of balls decided the score, in the first half we had two or three clear chances to put the 1-1 and we conceded the second goal in the last second of the period.

"After that, a clear offside goal decided the game and they were very confident to play in 4-0.

"I'm not complaining, Liverpool played well, but I do not think the difference was four goals."
