Tomorrow is July 4 or Independence Day if you live in the US. Like all major U.S. holidays, there are some good tech sales worth noting. We’ve listed the best we know below broken down by category. Many of them take place until tomorrow night, so it is best to rush if you want to do your shopping. However, some of them last a few more days.
Acer offers a 20 percent discount on almost everything in the online store, including laptops, monitors, desktops, accessories and more. Use the code JULY 2020 at checkout to save. In terms of exclusions, certain products listed here cannot be discounted.
Lenovo’s new Legion 5 gaming laptop gets a discount from Best Buy at a great price. Usually $ 1,100. If you pay $ 950 you will get a capable laptop with Intel’s 10th generation Core i7-10750H processor, Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics chip, 8 GB RAM, a 512 GB PCIe SSD and a 15.6-inch display with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
A quick note: I recently reviewed the $ 989 configuration of Lenovo’s IdeaPad Gaming 3 and I would recommend this Legion 5 based on specifications only. You get a superior graphics chip here for less.
Best Buy offers a fantastic deal on Samsung’s 65-inch RU8000 4K HDR TV. Usually $ 900, it has dropped to $ 600. This is Samsung’s previous 8 Series model and it’s hard to find at most retailers, but it is preferable to the newer TU8000 TV in a few ways. It features four HDMI ports to three in the latest version and has a refresh rate of 120 Hz, while the new model is only 60 Hz. In addition, this TV supports AirPlay 2 and can be mounted on the wall.
If you want something smaller than the above option, a little cheaper at $ 550, and with better colors and contrast with the QLED screen, TCL’s latest 55-inch 6 series TV might be a good fit. Like the Samsung model I mentioned, it has four HDMI ports and a 120Hz refresh rate, although it has local dimming zones, which are great for realistically lighting dark scenes. It also comes with built-in Roku software, eliminating the need for a set-top streaming box.
Fire TV Edition televisions come with Amazon’s built-in Fire HD streaming technology, so they’re a good option if you don’t want to have a hassle connecting and setting up a device. Models ranging in size from 32 inches to 55 inches from Insignia and Toshiba get a discount at Best Buy this weekend, and each comes with a free Amazon Echo Dot smart speaker. You can use it to command Alexa to start a show on the Fire TV edition TV, or just give it to a friend or family member.
If you want to load second hand games for PS4 and Xbox One, GameStop offers a deal where if you buy two games, you get the third for free. So add three games to your cart and the cheapest is free. To maximize the value, aim for titles that are more expensive, such as The Last of Us Part II, so you save more on the game you get for free.
Apple’s HomePod smart speaker has fallen back to $ 200 at Best Buy. This is $ 100 off the usual price, and while this isn’t the first time we’ve seen such a big drop, it’s your time to save if you’re hoping to pick one up.
Ring’s second-generation video doorbell costs $ 80 at Amazon and it comes with a free Echo Dot smart speaker. This is a good entry-level price if you only want a battery powered video doorbell to see who’s at the door or when a package is delivered.
Best Buy throws in a free Google Nest Hub smart display (usually around $ 80) when purchasing the Nest Hub Max with a camera and a larger screen. We recently reported that you can host or join Google Meet or Duo video calls from the Nest Hub Max, so it can be a good option if you want to stay connected for work or pleasure.
SimpliSafe’s home security system is heavily discounted at Best Buy. Normally $ 270, you can pick up the complete system for $ 210. It is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant and includes the base station, motion detector, four door or window sensors and a keyboard.
MegaBoom 3 from Ultimate Ears is one of the best Bluetooth speakers you can buy. It’s loud, with a long-lasting battery, and it’s $ 70 off at Best Buy this weekend. You can buy one in the moon color variant for $ 130.
If you want to try out Tidal’s HiFi music streaming service, you can sign up for it three months for $ 3. This subscription usually costs $ 20 (hi-fi audio isn’t a cheap hobby!), So this is a good opportunity to try it out with just a small investment before making sure it’s something you’ll want to keep paying for.
Marshall throws in a free set of his Major III wireless headphones (usually $ 80) when you buy one of his speakers. The most affordable is $ 170 (and this deal doesn’t include the new Emberton), although it’s a good deal if you’re looking for a new speaker anyway.
Satechi takes 20 percent off its collection of wireless charging products for phones and wearables. Just use the code WIRELESS at checkout to save some money.
