Julie Bishop mocked her elaborate outfit at the King’s coronation

Julie Bishop mocked her elaborate outfit at the King’s coronation as her designer ensemble has been compared to a toilet doll and a hazmat suit: “What the hell is she wearing?”

Julie Bishop has drawn criticism for the elaborate designer ensemble she wore to King Charles III’s coronation on Saturday.

The former Australian Foreign Secretary looked stunning in a fitted floral-patterned beige dress and matching hat, towering high on her head.

Not everyone was impressed, as several viewers watched the ceremony at home and compared her to a ‘toilet doll’ – a type of decorative doll popularly used as a toilet roll holder in the 1970s.

Julie Bishop dressed as a toilet doll. Pumpkin is getting going now,” one person joked on Twitter.

“WTF why did Julie Bishop marry Commander Lawrence in The Handmaids Tale. Mrs Putnum is a dead ringer but doesn’t dress like a toilet roll holder,” said another.

“Julie Bishop’s stylist is as effective as Morrison’s empathy coach,” someone else chimed in, while another said the outfit looked like a “hazmat suit.”

‘OMG! What the hell is Julie Bishop wearing! Mutton disguised as lamb!’ said yet another.

Others loved the look, with one writing, “Julie Bishop at the coronation looked compelling… with a touch of welding, a little panel tapping and some spray paint!”

Bishop previously shared a look at Westminster Abbey ahead of the ceremony on her Instagram Stories.

“And I will be seated at the coronation next to Lionel Ritchie, Prince’s Trust Global Ambassador,” she wrote in her caption.

“I’m excited to attend Their Majesties’ coronation today,” Bishop said The Daily Telegraph on the way to the venue earlier.

“I am chairman of the Prince’s Trust in Australia and it is also a great opportunity to showcase the great work of King Charles around the world in two countries of employment and education. So, it’s a great opportunity.’

Bishop, Nick Cave and football star Sam Kerr are among a handful of Australians invited to the coronation of King Charles III.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his partner Jodie Haydon will lead the group of Australians attending the ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London.
