Another Kapuso star has graced the “It’s Showtime” stage, as “All-Out Sundays” mainstay Julie Anne San Jose had her first guest appearance on Kapamilya’s midday show on Monday, July 17.
San Jose immediately made its presence felt with a cover of FIFTY FIFTY’s “Cupid” before joining the hosts to sing the variety show’s theme song.
Led by Vice Ganda, the midday show pillars and audience, or “madlang people,” formally welcomed the singer-actress.
Vice Ganda would then ask the “Popstar Kids” alum to address the madlang people with the show’s signature greeting “What’s up, madlang people!”, a moment San Jose said he had waited a long time for. Known for her vocal prowess, San José somehow sang her greeting to the delight of the entire studio.
San José, who also met former Kapuso star Ogie Alcasid, expressed how grateful she was to be invited on the show.
“Always—unang-una sa lahat, binabati ko kayo [hosts] lahat at sobrang happy ako na nandito ako ngayon (Of course, first of all, I want to greet you all, and I am very happy to be here today),” he said, adding that joining the pillars that day was “truly an honor and a privilege.”
Vice Ganda responded to San José’s sentiments, telling the host of “The Clash” that they were also honored to have one of today’s best singers on the show.
Co-host Vhong Navarro would not miss an opportunity to tease his guest by mentioning San José’s boyfriend, Kapuso actor Rayver Cruz.
Vice Ganda recalled, though the actor and comedian might be joking, talking to Cruz about the pair’s alleged collaboration for the episode’s opening number. On this, San José explained that his partner could be busy with another work commitment.
San José, who would stay for the “Rampanalo” segment of the show, also took to Instagram to express his gratitude to the show. “[M]araming salamat @itsshowtimena sa masayang tanghali (Thank you so much “It’s Showtime” for a happy noon)!” said its title.
Several fans and friends of the entertainment industry reacted to San Jose’s post, including her “Popstar Kids” co-finalist Enzo Almario and Cruz, who filled their comment with fire emojis and smiley face with heart-shaped eyes. “Call Center Girl” actress Dianne Medina and “Unbreak My Heart” cast member Sunshine Cruz also sent love to San Jose.
