Eric Roberts revealed he’s “not supposed to talk” about his daughter, Emma Roberts, and sister, Julia Roberts, in a candid new conversation.
However, The Dark Knight actor, 68, admitted he sometimes “stumbles” and speaks out about the Pretty Woman actress, 56, and her daughter Emma, 33, who recently claimed nepotism has caused her to lose her job.
During an appearance on Monday’s episode of Podcast Still Here HollywoodHost Steve Kmetko turned the conversation to Eric’s Oscar-winning brother.
In response, Roberts said: “You’ll have to ask her. I love my sister, but I can’t talk about her. She doesn’t want to talk about it.”
She added: “My daughter also told me not to talk about her, but I’m wrong and I do it. I’m not supposed to talk about either of them, but I do.”

However, The Dark Knight actor admitted that he sometimes “stumbles” and talks about the Pretty Woman actress and his daughter Emma.
Julia has appeared in numerous projects over the decades, like her brother, including Notting Hill (1999), Erin Brockovich (2000) and also My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997).
Eric’s daughter Emma (whom he shares with ex Kelly Cunningham) has also followed in her father’s acting footsteps to pursue her passion for working in the entertainment industry.
In 2001, this mother of one made her acting debut in the film Blow and gained recognition by starring in the Nickelodeon series, Unfabulous, from 2004 to 2007.
Emma subsequently took on roles in other projects such as Nancy Drew (2007), Wild Child (2008), the anthology series American Horror Story since 2013, Scream Queens (2015-2016) and Madame Web (2024).
Eric himself is no stranger to taking on a variety of roles over the years, and currently has a total of over 800 acting credits, according to the star. IMDB page.
In 2022, he had already talked about his relationship with Julia in the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef’s podcast and addressed the issue of a rumored estrangement that has been going on for years between the couple.
“Julia and I have always been fine,” he said.
‘I think it was many years ago, I was doing a press tour for a movie… It was right around the time Pretty Woman came out and I was getting a bunch of questions about Julia. And I was like, “Hey, excuse me. Can we talk about me?”
However, Eric explained that his comment was misinterpreted, adding: “Of course, afterwards it’s like, ‘Oh, they have a problem.'”

Although the brothers “don’t agree on many things,” the actor explained that they still maintain a close bond.
“I love knowing my sister. She’s a great girl, my sister. I don’t mess with her or the press. That’s all. Simple. And she doesn’t mess with me.”
Elsewhere on Monday’s podcast episode, the Runaway Train actor gushed about his daughter’s career.
“I’m in love with my daughter’s work these days as I can’t believe how great she’s become,” he said. “I’m so proud of her I can’t see straight.”
“From his performance in Maybe I Do until now, it makes me feel so proud and I want to say, ‘Oh my God, here he goes again. ‘ And I’m so happy to be his dad because he’s amazing and I’m so proud.”
Asked if his own status in the industry helped Emma advance her career, Eric replied: “Absolutely nothing. Except that I gave her that name.”
During a recent interview for To shine In an interview with The New York Times magazine, the Scream Queens actress claimed that nepotism has not only caused her to lose work in the industry, but also revealed that she has “never gotten a job” because of it.
“I’ve lost more jobs than I’ve won in this business,” he admitted to the outlet. “People have opinions, and sometimes they may not be good opinions about your family members.”

Last month, in June, Roberts reflected further on nepotism during an appearance on the show Table for two with Bruce Bozzi’s podcast.
In the episode, the beauty explained that there are “two sides to the coin when it comes to the discourse around nepo babies and many are bound to “have preconceived notions about you.”
‘People like to say, ‘Oh, you know, you have an advantage because you’re part of the family in the industry.’ But the flip side of that is that you have to prove yourself more.’

She added that “everyone loves an overnight success story,” but if “you’re not the girl from the middle of nowhere who broke into Hollywood,” then there’s a “side-eye and it says, ‘Well, your dad was like that.'”
“I always joke and say, ‘Why doesn’t anyone criticize George Clooney for being a nepo baby?’ (His aunt) Rosemary Clooney was an icon. I think it’s harder for young girls to have nepo children.”
Roberts continued: “I don’t see people calling the children of famous actors. Not that they should be called that. I don’t think they should call anyone who wants to follow their dreams.”
