Julia Fox recalls her ‘surreal’ experience when she auditioned for the Madonna biopic at the pop icon’s home last year.
The model, 33, vied for a top spot in the film – which has been on hiatus during Madonna’s Celebration tour – in early 2022 as she read for the role of Madge’s BFF, actress Debbie Mazar.
“I went to her house and read for her and it was all very surreal,” Julia told Andy Cohen on Sunday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live.
The actress also opened up about her memorable first meeting with the singer at a dinner with “some amazing gay guys” at New York hotspot Carbone “years ago.”
The Uncut Gems star – who has been busy promoting her new memoir Down the Drain – also shared how she had a star-studded dinner with Madonna after the audition, which resulted in a viral photo with Julia’s then-boyfriend Kanye West , NFL player Antonio Brown, Floyd Mayweather and Evan Ross.
Madonna posted a photo with Julia on Instagram at the time and wrote: “I went out to dinner with Julia to talk about my movie and a few other people showed up…”

Julia claimed it wasn’t the first time she had dined with the icon, revealing that she had broken bread with Madge at a dinner in Carbone years earlier and that the two had ‘kept in touch’.
Julia also claimed she was a little impressed by the ‘Like a Virgin’ hitmaker.
“There is so much strength in her vulnerability,” she said. “When you meet Madonna, she has that It factor and it makes sense why she is Madonna.”
Last year, Debbie called Julia out on Instagram when she heard about the audition process.
“I think she is beautiful, smart and a very talented actress,” the younger actress wrote of Julia in a caption alongside vintage photos of both her and Madonna.
“Funnily enough, she reminds me more of Madonna when we were young than me,” Debbie added. ‘I would of course be flattered. I wish all the girls auditioning the best. If you need dance moves or acting coaching, give me a call.”
In 2020, when the biopic was first announced, Madonna said in a statement: “I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, musician, dancer – a human being, trying to find her way in the world of the world. this world.’
‘The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell them than me,” she continued.

“It is essential to share the rollercoaster ride of my life with my voice and vision,” she added.
Meanwhile, Julia continues to promote her memoir, in which she dropped many a bombshell, including the gem Kanye reportedly offered to pay for her plastic surgery during a game of Uno.
“We spend the day playing Uno and a game where you have to highlight positive words in the dictionary,” the UnCut Gems star shared in her tome.
“I’ll get you a boob job if you want,” he told her.
Julia said she turned down the offer.
Madonna has returned to the stage for her rescheduled Celebration Tour dates.
The Material Girl was rushed to an intensive care unit in June with a “severe bacterial infection” after being found unconscious.
“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my kids,” she revealed on her show. “My second thought was that I didn’t want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour.”
Elaborating on the situation, she continued, “I also didn’t want to let down the people who have worked tirelessly with me over the past few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.’
Ultimately, The Celebration Tour was postponed, but not canceled.
‘It was a crazy year for me and I didn’t think I would make it. I have forgotten five days of my life,” she told fans from London.
“But the angels protected me and my children were there and my children always saved me, every time. And if you want to know a secret about how I survived, I thought, ‘I have to survive for them. I have to survive for my children.”
After the technical issues were resolved, Madonna made up for the wait by launching into lively versions of her hit Open Your Heart and Holiday.
