Jude Law revealed his wife forgot he was attractive after he grew a beard and mustache to prepare for his roles in Firebrand and his latest film The Order.
The actor, 51, made the surprising confession on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday while discussing his new film, which follows veteran FBI agent Terry Husk as he investigates a series of violent robberies.
As the game of cat and mouse intensifies, Terry discovers that bank robberies are being used to finance a white supremacist group’s plans to overthrow the United States government.
And while talking about the exciting new project, Jude explained that he had needed to grow his own mustache to fully fit into his 80s character.
Speaking to the chat show host, 57, the Talented Mr Ripley star explained that all the facial hair in the film was hers.
After Jimmy asked him if he had worn a fake mustache, Jude revealed: “No, it’s mine.” You can’t use glue on your mustache because every time you smile it rings, so it’s easier to grow it out and my wonderful wife put up with it.

While talking about his exciting new project, Jude explained that he had needed to grow his own mustache to fully fit into his 80s FBI character.
The star then explained that his wife hated his facial hair and after a year of growing a beard for his role as King Henry VIII in Firebrand and then a mustache, he had almost forgotten what he looked like.
When Jimmy asked Jude if his wife, Phillipa Coan, liked his new look, Jude revealed that she wasn’t a fan.
He said: ‘Well, I’d just done a film where I played Henry VIII and I had a huge beard and then I shaved it off and kept the tache.’
“And then the summer I finished and shaved it, we were on vacation and I caught her looking at me this afternoon and she was like,” then the star raises her eyebrows and smiled.
‘And I say “what?” and she says, “I just remembered that you’re very attractive.”
“And it’s like, poor love, she’s put up with me for almost a year with all this,” as he gestured around his face before laughing.

“I only had about four months to prepare, so I couldn’t reach full weight, but I ate a lot (pasta and ice cream at night) so I had a bigger face.”

And Jude said it wasn’t just about gaining weight, and during a Q&A at the Cannes Film Festival last year he explained that he became drenched in a “horrible” custom-made scent during filming, made of “blood.” , fecal matter and sweat”.
He said: ‘I read several interesting accounts that you could smell Henry from three rooms away. His leg was rotting badly. He hid it with rose oil. “I thought it would have a big impact if it smelled terrible.”

He said of his character: ‘There was a kind of lived-in quality to him that I enjoyed.
“There was a lot of discussion about facial hair, but all the agents I interviewed had a mustache, so it was a given that I had to grow one.”
