Harry Redknapp roared with joy as his horse Shakem Up’Arry won the TrustATrader Plate Handicap Chase on day three of the Cheltenham Festival during a tense finish.

The Redknapp-owned horse started the race at odds of 9/1 and took the lead in the closing stages, brilliantly jumping the final jump to extend his lead ahead of Crebilly and Straw Fan Jack.

Crebilly, ridden by Jonjo O’Neill Jr., finished second after beating Straw Fan Jack and Sean Houlihan to the line.

Theater Man was the pre-race favorite at 3/1 with Paddy Power and fell at the first jump when jockey Harry Cobden was unseated.

Outside hopefuls Glengouly and Fighter Allen set the pace in the opening stages of 2m4f’s journey before being caught by the tight-knit group.

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp was delighted after his horse achieved a shock victory.

The race began at the second moment of the request, as the runners were ordered to start from a standing start after getting too close to the starting mark.

Winning jockey Ben Jones said after the race on ITV: “I’m speechless, this lad gave me my first Cheltenham winner and he’s just given me my first Festival winner.” What a thrill.

Former Tottenham manager Redknapp was elated afterwards, gloating: “My God, he gets in there, how good was that, he jumped in for fun.” What a performance!

‘My grandmother got me into this, she was a bookie back in the day and she got locked up every week because betting was illegal at the time. She got me into this.

“To have a winner at the festival, my God, I can’t tell you,” he added.
