Joshua Jackson has spoken of the ‘healing’ he felt after buying his childhood home amid his troubled relationship with his father, who left when he was a child.
The 43-year-old actor now lives with his wife Jodie Turner-Smith and 15-month-old daughter Janie in the house where he grew up until he was eight in Topanga, California. ‘felt simple’.
And despite his difficult connections with his own father, Joshua has shared how having Janie “100% changed” his priorities in life in “every way possible.”

In a new interview with The digital magazine of MR PORTER, the former Dawson’s Creek star, who was born in Vancouver before moving to California, discussed what it felt like to buy his childhood home.
He explained, “Unfortunately my father was not a good father or husband and left the scene, but that house in Topanga was where everything felt simple, so it was a very healing thing for me to do.”
To his daughter who now sleeps in his nursery, he replied, ‘There was a mural of a dragon on the wall in that room that I couldn’t believe was still standing years later. The owner[who sold him the house] said, “I knew it meant a lot to someone and they would come back for it one day.”

Joshua and Queen & Slim star Jodie, 34, married in 2019 and welcomed their daughter Janie in April 2020.
And the actor of Dr. Death said his priorities in life and work have changed in “every way” now that he’s a father.
He explained: ‘It has changed 100 percent how I approach my work and my life. That has been made so clear to me over the past year. To feel good about what I do from day to day, my family has to be central.’

The Hollywood hunk added that there was “still plenty to do” for him in life, but the thought of experiencing new things through his little girl’s eyes “turns me on.”
Joshua added that he “can’t wait” to do various activities with Janie, including talking to her about skiing and diving.
As for her personality, he added that Janie was quite the “character” from the moment she was born, and he wasn’t afraid that his girl would be a “wallflower” when she grew up.
It comes recently after Joshua revealed that his wife Jodie broke the tradition of asking for his hand in marriage.

The One Week star, who recently said being married to Jodie Turner-Smith has changed his life “in every way”, revealed that she asked the questions rather than waiting for him to make a proposal.
Jodie broke with tradition on a celebratory vacation to Nicaragua, which Josh described as “incredibly romantic.”
When asked if he’d always known he and Jodie would get married, Joshua told Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, “I knew the moment she asked. She asked me, yes – on New Year’s Eve. We were in Nicaragua. It was very beautiful, incredibly romantic…
“We were walking on the beach and she proposed to me.”
The host asked if the proposal came out of the blue and Dr. Death’ admitted it surprised him, but saying yes was the ‘best choice’ he ever made.

He said, ‘There was such a thing as a preamble. There was a run-up to it.
‘[Did I know it was coming?] I didn’t know, but she was quite adamant, and she was right. This is the best choice I’ve ever made.’
The former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star later thanked Jimmy for letting him talk about the proposal — leading to a cryptic comment from his wife.
Joshua tweeted: ‘Thank you @jimmyfallon for having me on the show. And give me the chance to clear up some misconceptions about my marriage proposal.”

The couple – who have 15-month-old daughter Janie together – confirmed they were married in December 2019.
