Joshua Jackson has revealed that his wife Jodie Turner-Smith has broken tradition by asking for his hand.
The Dawson’s Creek star, 43, who recently said being married to Jodie Turner-Smith has changed his life “in every way,” revealed that she asked the questions rather than waiting for him to make a proposal.
The Queen & Slim star, 34, broke with tradition on a celebratory vacation to Nicaragua, which Josh described as “incredibly romantic.”

When asked if he always knew he and Jodie were going to get married, Joshua told Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, “I knew when she asked me. She asked me, yes – on New Year’s Eve. We were in Nicaragua. It was very beautiful, incredibly romantic…
“We were walking on the beach and she proposed to me.”
The host asked if the proposal came out of the blue and Dr. Death’ admitted it surprised him, but saying yes was the ‘best choice’ he ever made.
He said, ‘There was such a thing as a preamble. There was a run-up to it.

‘[Did I know it was coming?] I didn’t know, but she was quite adamant, and she was right. This is the best choice I’ve ever made.’
The former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star later thanked Jimmy for letting him talk about the proposal — leading to a cryptic comment from his wife.
Joshua tweeted: ‘Thank you @jimmyfallon for having me on the show. And give me the chance to clear up some misconceptions about my marriage proposal.”
Jodie, 34, replied: ‘What about the mushrooms @VancityJax?(sic)’
The former ‘Affair’ actor did not respond to his wife’s cheeky comment.

The couple – who have 15-month-old daughter Janie together – confirmed they were married in December 2019.
Joshua recently admitted that his life has gotten “better” in every way since he married the “After Yang” actress and they had their daughter.
He gushed, “There’s nothing better than being married to her and having that baby. It’s everything.’
Joshua’s reveal comes just days after he spoke about his marriage with Turner-Smith during an interview with… Entertainment tonight, where he noted that their relationship had changed his life “in every possible way.”
The Fringe actor told the media that he had found true happiness with his wife and daughter and said he felt great being around them.

The artist also spoke about working on the upcoming series Dr. Death and noted that portraying a nefarious surgeon took an emotional toll.
The actor specifically noted that the presence of Turner-Smith and Janie grounded him and kept him from getting too wrapped up in his role.
“I honestly think it was great to have my family there with me because to go home, kiss my wife, hold the baby and not really be a terrible person when I came home at night, was a great tonic,” he said. .
Jackson and the Queen & Slim actress were first linked in 2018 after they met at a party and stayed close all night.
Before becoming romantically involved with his now-wife, the actor was in a relationship with his former costar Katie Holmes for a few years, though they eventually broke up.
After his divorce from the actress, he moved on to Diane Kruger, whom he first came into contact with in 2006.
Although they were strong for a decade, the two eventually ended their relationship.
Jackson and Turner-Smith tied the knot in 2019, although they did not immediately announce that they were married.
They welcomed Janie in April and have been raising her ever since.
