Joshua Jackson believes ‘the affair can be forgiven’ as he talks about marriage… four years after wedding Jodie Turner-Smith
Joshua Jackson expressed his belief that extramarital affairs can be “tolerated” during an interview with Sunday times.
The 44-year-old actor, who has a three-year-old daughter named Janie, with wife Judy Turner-Smith, discovered infidelity in two of his major projects, The Affair, as well as the TV adaptation of Fatal Attraction.
The actor, who recently appeared in the trailer for the second show, said he believes someone wayward in a relationship doesn’t necessarily mean one end, though there would be a “major overhaul” to bring about.
He said Journal: I think an affair can be forgiven. We are all adults. No one wants to be scammed and there is a major overhaul that needs to be done.
Jackson went on to express that he felt as though infidelity was primarily a problem on the part of unfaithful individuals.

“The affairs aren’t about the partner, they’re about the person who assaulted them. It’s not just about the sex. There’s a deeper violation.
The actor, who dated Diane Kruger for 10 years until 2016, believes meeting Jodie in 2018 was the “right moment” in his life because he believes if they had met when he was younger, they would have had a “romance.”
Asked what made him settle down with the White Noise actress, he said, “It’s partly age. I’m old enough to be able to do that. It is partly about finding someone at the right moment in life.
Jackson went on to state that, in retrospect, he was likely not emotionally ready to begin a relationship with Smith.
If we had met five years ago we probably would have had an affair, but all the rest of that stuff, I just wasn’t ready. “I didn’t think I’d ever want to get married,” he said.
The couple met through a mutual friend and initially insisted their romance was just ‘casual’ even though their actions were said differently.
‘At first we did this dance with each other like, ‘Oh, this is my show,’ Joshua said. Except we will spend every moment together and find reasons to stay in other cities together at the same time.
The 36-year-old actress proposed during New Year’s holidays in Nicaragua, and the former “Dawson’s Creek” actor “instinctively” answered yes.

‘I don’t know if she planned it or if it was something of a spur of the moment,’ he recalls, ‘but he brought up a proposal I wasn’t expecting and the organic, instinctive answer was yes.
The actor continued, “Six months later she was pregnant and we were on our way.”
Jackson concluded by noting that he has grown to embrace his roles as husband and father.
