Josh Patterson takes on the challenge of 34 marathons in just 19 days in a wheelchair

Former Made In Chelsea star Josh & # 39; JP & # 39; Patterson will try to set a new world record this weekend as he travels from the northernmost tip of Scotland to the southernmost corner of England … in a wheelchair.

The 29-year-old – who became famous in the E4 series for his novels by veteran Binky Felstead – will try to beat the current record, 20 days, from John-O & # 39; -Groats to Land & # 39; s End – a 900 miles.

& # 39; I want to do this in 19 days & # 39 ;, he told MailOnline. & # 39; It is the equivalent of 34 marathons in 19 days. They are two marathons a day.

& # 39; This is the most important thing I have ever done … except for bringing my daughter into the world. & # 39;

Josh is the father of India – who is celebrating her second birthday this June – that he is raising with Binky.

The couple mentioned time on their romance last year, but still remain close, with Binky in particular present at many of the sports events that Josh has undertaken for charity, since their friend Ben Tansley was involved in a motorcycle accident that caused him to be from the waist paralyzed was a visit to meet India when she was first born.

& # 39; I am so close to Ben and I am so dedicated to him; and I do this not only for him, but also for the community [of those in wheelchairs] to ensure that they lead a comfortable life, & Josh said.

While this is certainly amazingly admirable, Josh and Ben come as a kind of double act of inspiration.

After the accident, during his recovery, Ben asked Josh to complete the Berlin marathon with him in a wheelchair to understand both the physical and mental challenges that he and many others face.

Despite his life-changing – and devastating – new circumstances, Ben became more driven.

Josh agreed and the couple completed the performance in September 2018, crossing the finish line together.

This next challenge will make Josh aware and make money for charities incredibly important to him: the Spinal Injuries Association, the Royal Marines and Heads Together

The training was rigorous and intense, with Josh mainly spending his time in the wheelchair, kneeling rather than sitting. He admits that through his & # 39; competent & # 39; body through such rigorous training, he is forced to end up crippling & # 39; to make.

& # 39; It doesn't matter if you are the most difficult person on earth. We are all dealing with advertisements, & he continued. & # 39; Marines represent things – they have to live with mental illness like others. When they have finished serving, they must prepare to live a better life.

& # 39; I really see myself as a ship. I have lived with mental illness myself, this pushes me further to do this and make a difference. & # 39;

But he doesn't make it legitimate.

& # 39; There is a question of men and masculinity in society, not vulnerability. But I am almost 30, I have a little girl, I think this is a time for me to set a benchmark. I want to show my vulnerability by taking on this challenge and inspiring people. & # 39;

Josh remembers the day Ben had injured himself with precision in the accident. Partly because it happened to be his birthday.

& # 39; Binky and I went back to London. It was my birthday. And later we received this call, & he said. & # 39; I just couldn't understand. It wasn't right.

& # 39; But Ben – although his reaction was shock and sadness – now he will tell you that it is the best thing that ever happened to him.

& # 39; Now he will tell you how much it encourages him and how he will use this to influence people's lives every day. And in turn he created a person in me who has this attitude, a passion for life.

& # 39; Ben has inspired his own children, his friends. He is remarkable and has inspired people to contact him and follow his journey.

& # 39; For Ben, life isn't over now. It has only just begun. & # 39;

Josh admitted that he & # 39; scared and vulnerable & # 39; is when it comes to meeting the challenge, and that & # 39; there are 101 reasons why I won't finish it & # 39 ;; but this has not prevented him from preparing for the task and going for it.

& # 39; If you have a strong mind and body, you are able to achieve what you want, & # 39; Josh said. & # 39; I look at people who face these challenges with a smile on their faces. I am determined to strengthen my body, determined to use my platform and I know I will give this my best chance! & # 39;

Josh urges those moved by Ben & # 39; s story to take time to think about how quickly things changed for his friend.

& # 39; Maybe you are no longer affected, but maybe you are in the future. Things can change with a click of a finger, God forbid it. And that's why I do this. & # 39;

Joshua Patterson will try to set a new world record from John O Groats to Land & # 39; s End with a manual wheelchair in 19 days from April 23, 2019. For more information and to donate click here.
