Mourinho hit back by pointing out that he started big games under him at Tottenham
“It was a great opportunity to play three very important matches.
“He played against Liverpool, he played against Olympiacos, probably the two most important games we had to play, and against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
“So even for Danny Rose, it was a great opportunity to play three games and show me what he can do.”
Rose joined Newcastle until the end of the season, when he has one year left until his contract expires at Tottenham.

Mourinho arrived in Spurs in November to replace Mauricio Pochettino.
“I knew I would never play after a month,” Rose said. “It was hard to train knowing that I would not play.
‘It’s not worked out, but full of respect for him and what he does at the club. He and the club took 12 points in an adrift from Chelsea [now in fourth place] and now it’s four.
“I have to be honest, I thought I’d keep playing.
‘I really feel that I didn’t get as much opportunity as everyone else in the backline. I wanted to play for him. “
