The humble! Jose Mourinho praises ‘very smart’ Sean Dyche after his Tottenham side took a 1-0 win at Burnley … and emphasizes that Mauricio Pochettino deserves credit for the incredible collaboration between Harry Kane and Son Heung-min
Jose Mourinho praised ‘very smart’ manager Sean Dyche and predecessor Mauricio Pochettino after Tottenham threw a narrow 1-0 win over Burnley.
Son Heung-min teamed up with Harry Kane for the ninth time this season in the 76th minute to give Spurs the victory after stubborn resistance from the home side.
And after sending the North London side to a third direct win, Mourinho was eager to deflect the praise to Dyche’s side, while also highlighting the work Pochettino was doing with his match-winning pair before arriving at Spurs.

‘It was exactly what I expected. I know Sean, I know how hard he can make it for the best attacking teams, ”said Mourinho Sky Sports after the win.
‘He’s very smart, he plays with what he has and he gave us a very difficult game. So congratulations to him and his boys.
‘My players weren’t playing the quality football we wanted, but because of Burnley, not because of us. So I think we did a positive game. ‘

Spurs’ deadly duo have been one of the stories of the season so far, bringing their Premier League goal combinations to 29, the second highest in top flight history.
The pair have been pivotal components for Tottenham for a number of years since popular former manager Pochettino brought them together after taking Kane into the academy’s first team and signing Son in 2015.
The current boss made sure the Argentinian was credited when asked about his prolific pair.
‘I don’t want all the credit because they played together in Mauricio’s time. They played together for a long time, probably in a different way, ”Mourinho said.
The Portuguese also wrote down Mauricio Pochettino for the development of the couple
“Harry is probably not always nine now, he will now be given areas where Son can achieve goals in different areas.”
Individually, Son is the leading goalscorer with eight, while Kane was involved in 13 goals this season – breaking the record for most goals and assists contributed in six games.
Pochettino managed Tottenham between 2015 and 2019, leading them to the top three finishes in three of the four seasons and helping them reach the Champions League final in 2019.
