Jose Mourinho could be part of Amazon’s Champions League coverage next season after holding talks with the broadcaster, according to reports.
The legendary Portuguese coach remains out of a job after being sacked by Roma in January and could now move into a more permanent role as a pundit while he waits for another coaching opportunity to become available.
Amazon is reevaluating its team during the preseason and is interested in hiring Mourinho in a move that would represent one of the biggest blows in sports broadcasting, according to reports The independent.
The upcoming season will be Amazon’s debut year streaming in the competition after they previously signed a deal with the competition two years ago.
They will look to build on their experiences covering the Premier League, where Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Patrice Evra have all enjoyed spells working for the company.

Mourinho could join the likes of Alan Shearer (right), who was previously an Amazon pundit in the Premier League.
The US-owned company has secured the television rights to 17 live Champions League matches over the next three years and will have the first-choice match for each round of the competition.
Mourinho has previously enjoyed shorter spells on air during temporary spells out of management and will be part of TNT Sports’ coverage of Saturday’s Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.
The 61-year-old is eager to return to the bench as soon as possible, but has maintained positive communications with Amazon as they try to recruit him into their team.
If he takes up another managerial role between now and the start of next season, then Mourinho is unlikely to consider a move into a media role.
Mourinho’s experiences in the Champions League and managing Premier League teams make him perfectly suited to making judgments from the studio.
Man City, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Liverpool will represent England in Europe’s premier club competition, with Amazon likely to take charge of several matches involving the four clubs.

Mourinho previously announced himself as a top European manager when he won a shock Champions League title with Porto in 2004, beating Sir Alex Ferguson’s Man United en route to victory.
He then moved to Chelsea and led the Blues to back-to-back Premier League triumphs before leaving for Inter Milan and winning a second Champions League with the Italian giant.
Mourinho was unable to replicate his former European title glories at Real Madrid and again in a second spell at Stamford Bridge, but he won the Europa League with Man United in 2017.
His last job at Roma saw Mourinho win the inaugural UEFA Conference League with Roma two years ago, but he struggled during his third season in the Italian capital.
