Jorge Masvidal took advantage of stopping at Rome airport on the way to Abu Dhabi by eating some pizza in his private jet.

Nicknamed ‘Gamebred’, Masvidal was drafted late to fight Kamaru Usman at UFC 251 on Saturday night at UFC Fight Island after his original opponent – Gilbert Burns – had tested positive for coronavirus.

But after admitting he needed to lose some weight – 20 pounds – to be fit at welterweight, the 35-year-old tucked into pizza and posted evidence on his Instagram page.

Masvidal has not fought since his memorable victory over Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in November, and after six days of fighting, he did not hide that he was not in top condition.

“Yes, I have 20 pounds to go. I will record the fight within six days, ”he said ESPN First Take.

“When they made the fight official, I was 191 pounds. So Friday, I have to lose that weight.

“I have been doing this for a long time, it will not be the first time that I have to lose a crazy weight in the short term. As I’ve always said, God has my back so I don’t have to worry. ‘

The 35-year-old claimed the ‘Baddest Mother F *****’ belt (BMF) with his win against Diaz in November.

His opponent Usman, nicknamed the Nigerian Nightmare, promised to ‘ragdoll’ Masvidal in the main event on Saturday night.

Responding to the BMF title that may be up for grabs at UFC Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, Usman said TMZ Sports: ‘That is definitely my (strength of words).

“They say it’s a” BMF “- they really think of it as a real title, some sort of snack or whatever.

“They really consider this a title. So you know, yes – after I go out and hit his a ** and ragdoll him, that (power term) comes home with me so I can throw it in my closet. ‘
