Jonathan Owens insists he will support Simone Biles if his wife decides to compete at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles

Simone Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens insists he will support his wife if she decides to compete at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, despite her plans to start a family with the American gymnastics legend.

The dust has barely settled from Biles’ historic performance at the 2024 Games in Paris, where she won three gold medals and one silver to become the most decorated American gymnast of all time.

However, there has already been talk of her chances of making it to the next Olympics in four years’ time, something the 27-year-old admits is not guaranteed given her age.

She also revealed earlier this week that Owens, her husband of last year, is desperate to have children during an appearance on the TODAY show.

“I would have had them yesterday if I could have,” Biles said of the NFL star.

While he’s keen to prioritise starting a family with her, Owens would fully support Biles if she decided to leave for Los Angeles in 2028.

In an interview with PEOPLEJonathan said he’ll be on board for “whatever she chooses” before adding: “I’ll support her 100 percent.”

“I can’t make that decision for her,” he added about the possibility of Simone competing in the next Olympics. “It will depend on how she feels, because it involves a lot of sacrifice.”

Owens and Biles tied the knot in April 2023 after meeting during the Covid-19 pandemic three years earlier.

The loving couple will also be moving into a new home together, with construction on their Houston property nearing completion.

Despite stressing that he will be there for her if she moves to Los Angeles in 2028, Owens suggested Biles might feel it’s better to “focus on life” and turn her attention to raising children with him.

“If she feels like it’s time to focus on life… because when you’re locked up, you have to sacrifice a lot and you miss out on a lot of things,” he continued.

Biles is unsure whether the 2024 Olympics in Paris will be her last as the American gymnastics legend's husband Owens is now keen to start a family with her.

“That’s something she’ll have to figure out on her own. And like I said, I’m here to support her 100 percent, whatever she decides to do.”

Biles expressed frustration when asked what would happen next during this summer’s Olympics, but now that the Games are over, she revealed what her life could look like going forward.

The gymnastics icon and Owens have been discussing the possibility of having children together, though she is unsure if her future will include LA 2028.

“The next Olympics will be at home, so you never know,” she told reporters in Paris. “But I’m getting very old.”
