Jonathan Owens didn’t hold back in his cheerleading duties as his wife and U.S. gymnastics legend Simone Biles led her team to the top of the podium on Tuesday.
The United States team claimed gold in the group gymnastics final in Paris, beating rivals Italy and Brazil.
With Biles at her best, the Americans’ total of 171.296 was well ahead of the runners-up and was the exclamation point of a yearlong run in which Biles has cemented her legacy as the all-time best in her sport and among the best in Olympic history.
Hours after the win, Owens posted photos with Biles as the celebrations continued. The couple posed while he wore his wife’s medal. They also shared a celebratory kiss in the second slide.
“You witness history every time you step on the mat,” Owens wrote. “Congratulations babe on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!”

‘Just wow!!! There were 8 of them!!!!! I’m so thankful I was there to see it.’
Owens, who wore a T-shirt with Biles’ artwork, showed her support by clapping from the sidelines and posting on her Instagram story how her life partner was making history. Owens sat next to Biles’ parents, Nellie and Ron Biles.
As the team was being crowned, Owens filmed them from the stands before switching to the screen, where the final scores were being displayed. “Gold medal baby!!!!!” he wrote.
Owens also posted a selfie with Biles after the event.
Additionally, Owens shared posts from the Bleacher Report and Team USA accounts celebrating Biles’ milestone.

After parting ways with the Green Bay Packers, Owens joined the Chicago Bears, who gave the St. Louis native the green light to fly to France while the rest of the team heads into preseason.
Owens was previously criticized by the masses for claiming he was the “attractive” one in his partner’s life and admitting he was unaware of Biles’ notoriety until they met on the dating app Raya during the pandemic.
Biles, however, was quick to shut out the noise and block out the negativity from the public. As for Owens, he was the man who promoted his girlfriend the most when she returned to the world stage after her withdrawal from the 2021 Tokyo Games.
Eight years after winning gold in Rio with a group that called Aly Raisman Grandma because she was 22, Biles — now 27 and married — was back with Jade Carey (24), Jordan Chiles (23), Suni Lee (21) and teenager Hezly Rivera at her side.

“We don’t have to pigeonhole ourselves anymore,” Biles said.
Biles now has 38 medals at major international competitions, eight of them under the Olympic rings, surpassing Shannon Miller as the American gymnast with the most medals.
“She’s the greatest of all the greats,” said Chiles, who now has the gold to add to the team silver she, Lee and Biles won in Tokyo.
