The film is based on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller of the same name.
The film will tell the story of the British naval ship Wager, which was shipwrecked off an island off the tip of South America in 1740, and the crew’s efforts to survive as they battled the elements and human nature.
DiCaprio will produce both projects through his production company Appian Way.
