Stewart, who returned to The Daily Show as a once-weekly host earlier this year, sharply criticized Trump and his allies for calling Trump’s tax avoidance scheme a victimless crime.
The fraud case brought by James accuses the Republican presidential front-runner of inflating the value of properties, including his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, to obtain better loan terms.
The comic was specifically responding to Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary saying just that, adding that “all real estate developers everywhere” do what Trump does.
‘How are you not so angry about overvaluations in the real world? Because they are not victimless crimes,” Stewart said.

“The New York attorney general knew that Trump’s property values were inflated because when it came time to pay taxes, Trump undervalued those same properties,” he continued. “It was all part of a very specific real estate practice known as lying.”
He added that “the system is incentivized for corruption” when you behave as Trump allegedly did.

Stewart sold a duplex in Tribeca to financier Parag Pande for $17.5 million in 2014.
Although the sale price is not available at the time, the estimated market value at the time was only $1.882 million and the valuation of the accessory was just under $850,000.
Pande resold the property at a 25 percent loss for more than $13 million in 2021.
Records also state that Stewart paid less property taxes because he paid them above the assessor’s valuation price that was no more than seven figures.

Stewart’s anger toward Trump predates his full entry into politics, dating back to Stewart’s initial appearance on The Daily Show.
Trump launched a nasty tirade against Stewart in 2013, saying the comedian is hiding from his past because he changed his last name from Lebowitz to Stewart.
The scathing Twitter posts came after the Comedy Central host joked that Trump, then a leading voice in the Birther Movement, had a secret of his own and alleged that the mogul’s real birth name was F***face von Clownstick.
Trump was not amused by the insult and says that Stewart is the one who is actually hiding from his past, since the cable host has been estranged from his biological father for a long time.
