Jones said he was ‘incredibly happy’ for Pereira and his team after Saturday’s event
Jones took to Twitter after the fight to say, “It’s already yours champ, congratulations! Very happy for you and your team.’
While Ngannou – who recently confirmed he could fight Jones on his return to the Octagon – wrote, “What a sad night” with a crying face emoji.
The Tweets took place after Pereira defeated Adesanya on Saturday night at Maddison Squad Garden.
It looked like Adesanya was on track to successfully defend his title and avenge two previous kickboxing losses against Pereira after four rounds.
However, that changed when Pereira unleashed a series of punches to take a TKO win over Adesanya in the fifth round.
As a result, Pereira is now the undisputed middleweight champion of the promotion after just four professional fights.
