- Two men were arrested near Ibrahim’s mansion in Dover Heights in July
Prominent Sydney businessman John Ibrahim has been revealed to be the target of an attempted murder near his mansion in the eastern suburbs.
Ibrahim, who made his fortune running nightclubs, can be identified as the target of the July 25 attempted attack near his Dover Heights mansion after a court gag order was lifted on Thursday.
Two men, aged 20 and 24, were arrested near the scene the same day after a confrontation with police.
They allegedly pointed a loaded gun at a neighbor they mistook for Ibrahim as he drove a car, similar to the one Ibrahim owns, off the exclusive beachfront street.
The two men, Yousif Zrayka and Siaosi Maeakafa Tupoulahi, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and firearms offences.
Ibrahim had asked the court in July to suppress his identity, but prosecutors did not ask for the non-publication order to be extended after he reportedly refused to make a statement to police about the incident.
The drama unfolded in the upmarket neighbourhood at around 8.30am on 25 July, when a man wearing a balaclava and carrying a gun was reportedly seen on the street.
We will continue to report more.
