John Cena and Alison Brie find themselves caught in the middle of political turmoil in the first trailer for the upcoming action comedy freelance.
The film Relativity Media by director Pierre Morel (Taken) hits theaters on October 6. It revolves around a Special Forces operator (Cena) who resurfaces from retirement to escort a journalist (Alison Brie) to interview a foreign country’s dictator, who is embroiled in a dangerous coup d’état that soon after their arrival begins. .
During the trailer, Brie tells Cena, “I’m with the president of a country in the middle of a coup. This is the scoop of your life.” He bluntly replies, “You have to live to have the scoop of your life.”
Later, after noticing that they are running from danger, Cena asks, “Are you still excited to defeat a coup?” Brie demurely replies, “Less and less, honestly.”
Morel directs from a script by Jacob Lentz (Jimmy KimmelLive!), and the supporting cast includes Juan Pablo Raba, Alice Eve, Marton Csokas, and Christian Slater. Executive producers are Michael Arrieta, Danny Chan, Court Coursey, Marc Danon, Jaime Hernandez, Walter Josten, Lex Miron and David Robbins.
It remains a busy summer for Cena. After appearing in the big hit Barbie and leave Rocksteady Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhemhe shines Holiday friends 2, which debuts on Hulu on August 25. Brie co-wrote and performed Someone I used to knowthe Prime Video rom-com launched in February.
Both artists have a connection to wrestling, as Cena rose to fame with the WWE, while Brie earned two Golden Globe nominations for her starring role on Netflix’s GLOW.
