Beverly Hills Cop star John David Ashton has died peacefully at the age of 76 after a battle with cancer.
He died in feet. Collins, Colorado, on Thursday, TMZ reported.

Alan Somers, the actor’s representative, told TMZ that “John leaves a legacy of love, dedication and service. His memory will always be cherished by his wife, his children, his grandchildren, as well as his brother, his sisters, his extended family and all those who loved him.”
“John’s impact on the world will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.”
The actor’s family has requested that donations be made to a hospice center in lieu of flowers.
The fan-favorite Hollywood actor captivated the country for 50 years, appearing in more than 200 films, television and stage productions throughout his career.
She quickly became a household name after her most notable and nostalgic film, 1984’s Beverly Hills Cop, where she worked opposite Eddie Murphy.
Out of four Beverly Hills Cop movies, Ashton appeared in three of them, including the most recent one that premiered on Netflix in July of this year.
The sequel received a lot of positive reviews from fans and critics, with some even expressing that it may have been one of the best sequels to date.

Ashton was particularly known for his role in the franchise as Detective Sergeant John Taggart, a by-the-book detective who acted as the straight-laced straight man to Murphy’s character Axel Foley and all his antics.
He starred alongside Robert DeNiro in another successful film, Midnight Run, where he played the character of Marvin Dorfler, a bounty hunter who rivaled another bounty hunter played by DeNiro.
