But Konta could not continue his momentum when he faced number five Svitolina in Montreal.

The Ukrainian only needed a service break to seal the first set, and only gave up three points in his first service.

The second set was a more fought event, and both exchanged two breaks each to leave the game finely balanced at 4-4.

From there, Svitolina had all the answers and went ahead to 5-4 after coming out on top of a five deuce game in the Konta service.

She maintained her courage to serve the game, claiming a 6-3 6-4 victory after 85 minutes on the court.

Svitolina will now face Elise Mertens or Aryna Sabalenka.
