President Joe Biden stepped out after the first day of his son Hunter Biden’s gun trial to raise money for his re-election bid at a splashy home in Greenwich, Connecticut.
After spending the day in Wilmington, Delaware, with nothing on his agenda, the president addressed high-dollar donors Monday night at the home of former HBO chief Richard Plepler.
He warned of the “uncharted territory” the campaign entered after former President Donald Trump went rogue and raised a staggering $141 million in May.
“This guy doesn’t deserve to be president, whether I run or not,” the 81-year-old presumptive Democratic nominee said.
Biden noted that “for the first time in American history, a convicted former president is now seeking the presidency.”

“But as disturbing as it is, more damaging is the all-out assault that Donald Trump is delivering on the American justice system,” the president said.
Trump has called the process “rigged” and characterized himself as a “political prisoner.”
Biden pushed to back the decision, noting that Trump is being given the right to appeal.
“It is reckless and dangerous for anyone to say that something is rigged just because they don’t like the outcome,” the president said.
He also continued to insist that Trump would be more damaging in a second term, using the line of attack the former president ‘broke’ after losing the 2020 race to the Democrat.
“It’s literally driving him crazy,” Biden said.
The fundraiser was held at the home of Plepler, who worked under Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd, a friend of the president, during the early years of his career.

Biden was at his Rehoboth Beach home when Trump was found guilty Thursday of all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to payments of money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.
He returned briefly to the White House on Friday and addressed the condemnation before delivering remarks on the Middle East.
“The American principle that no one is above the law was reaffirmed,” Biden said.
“And it is reckless, dangerous, irresponsible for anyone to say that this was rigged, just because they don’t like the verdict,” the president added.
He then welcomed the Kansas City Chiefs to the White House before leaving again for Rehoboth Beach for the weekend.
The president and first lady flew to Wilmington on Sunday night, a day ahead of schedule.
Biden stayed at the couple’s lakefront home in Wilmington while Dr. Jill Biden appeared in court to support Hunter during Monday’s jury selection process for his federal gun trial.
Daughter Ashley Biden and grandson-in-law Peter Neal also showed up at the courthouse to show their support.
Aboard Air Force One on Monday, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to say how Biden spent the day at his home in Wilmington, other than calling Mexico’s president-elect.
He declined to say whether Biden was following Hunter’s trial.

The White House issued a statement of the president’s support for Hunter early Monday.
He also refused to bite when asked about the president’s “emotional state” on day one of Hunter’s trial.
