President Joe Biden referred to Donald Trump’s supporters as “trash” in a surprising outburst as Vice President Kamala Harris issued her “shutdown” plea on the 2024 election.
The 81-year-old commander in chief was responding to a comedian at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday by comparing Puerto Rico to a “floating island of garbage.”
Biden’s comment sparked an immediate reaction from Republicans, comparing it to Hillary Clinton calling Trump supporters “deplorables” in 2016.
He said: “The only trash I see floating around is his (Trump) supporters.”
The president made the comment in a national phone call hosted by the advocacy group Voto Latino.
