Joe Biden, known for his love of ice cream, hosted an event where Pennsylvania voters gobbled up the frozen treat as the president tried to woo residents of the key state amid a faltering public decline.
After a church service and a stop at a campaign office in Philadelphia on Sunday morning, Biden made one final stop at an ice cream party in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to complete a daylong tour of the battleground state.
“Guys, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go check on us for ice cream,” Biden muttered. “You know, isn’t it really boring to have a president who’s known for two things: Ray Ban sunglasses and chocolate ice cream?”
Some at the outdoor event described the president’s comments as difficult to hear.
“If I stay here much longer, all those people in the back are going to die of heat stroke,” Biden said. “I’m not going to do that.”
On Sunday morning, Biden attended a church service at the predominantly black Mt Airy Church of God in Christ in Philadelphia. At several points during the service, the president appeared confused or dazed.

“Let us stand together,” the pastor said at one point during a praise and worship song.
Biden looked around with a blank stare and nearly stood up several times before, after 30 seconds, deciding to join the standing congregation.
The Mt. Airy pastor delivered a sermon focused on praising the president amid calls for him to step aside to make way for a different candidate.
He even suggested that Biden’s previous event, where he was supposed to speak to union workers, was canceled due to the strike because of God’s plan for the president to come to his church on Sunday.
“God, who is in charge of everything, interfered with the president’s schedule,” Bishop Felton said in his sermon. “He was previously scheduled to speak at a conference today. But God knew that President Biden needed some love. And God sent him here today so that we can show him… come on, let’s show him some love.”
“So, President Biden, you are not just among friends, you are among family.”
He assured Biden: “We did not come to beat you up, to belittle you, to criticize you, to magnify your flaws or your mistakes. We came to love you. We love you, President.”
Biden went to church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Sunday morning, where he sat and appeared confused for 30 seconds after the pastor asked the congregation to stand for praise and worship.
Biden stumbled and mumbled during the debate with Donald Trump on June 27 in Atlanta, Georgia.
And now there is a chorus of calls for Biden to end his re-election bid and allow someone else to run as the Democratic nominee in November.
“I don’t know why they want to make an issue of the President and his stuttering and his inability at certain times to get the words out,” Felton said. “Whereas another person lies fluently and his lies are never questioned.”
“People are jealous of you,” the pastor said. “Jealous of your perseverance. Jealous of your favor. Jealous of God’s hand on your life.”
