On Friday, Joe and Jill Biden left their Rehoboth beach house and drove to their Wilmington home, returning there for the first time in months after the Secret Service made security upgrades.
Details on changes to their 6,850 square foot home in Wilmington were not available, but the Bidens were last there over Memorial Day weekend in May.
The couple had spent a week at their $2 vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, where they cycled, relaxed on the beach and even went on a date night with dinner and a movie.
On Friday morning, they boarded Marine One at a park near their vacation home and flew to Wilmington, where they will be until Monday.
While the first couple experienced some downtime, Donald Trump was arraigned in Washington DC on four federal charges related to attempts to nullify the 2020 election results. And Devon Archer, the former business partner of their son Hunter, testified before Congress about Hunter’s dealings with foreign corporations.

The Bidens bought their home in Rehoboth Beach, a popular resort on the Atlantic Ocean, in 2017. The 4,786-square-foot home features six bedrooms and five bathrooms, a “gourmet” kitchen, three fireplaces, and plenty of terraces and porches.
The couple installed an in-ground pool and there’s even an outdoor dog wash station for their German Shepherd Commander.
Rehoboth Beach uses the slogan ‘The Nation’s Summer Capital’ due to its proximity to Washington D.C.
Its popular promenade has shops, food stalls and all the ice cream the president – who is known to love sweet treats – could want.
But security concerns have kept it off the popular high street.
Instead, he went to church. He went to the beach. He rode a bike. And he even closed his eyes after he and Jill took a late night walk on the beach to see the supermoon lighting up the night sky.
And they enjoyed sunny skies during their week-long getaway.
“Hard to complain about this weather,” Biden told reporters of his trip.

Biden cycled nearly every day of his vacation, cycling the 8km Gordon’s Pond Loop – a popular bike path near his home. Jill Biden was often with him.
Locals biking, running and walking on the trail were swept up by the Secret Service when Biden was out exercising. Crowds of them waited near the entrance to wave at him as he passed.
Twice during their downtime, the Bidens hit the public beach near their home, where crowds of onlookers were held off by a ring of Secret Service agents.
Phones were waved to capture the couple as they relaxed on the beach. A few people even got snaps of Biden without his shirt on Sunday — images that quickly went viral on social media.
Later in the week, Biden was caught napping on the beach after a late night out with the first lady.
He was also spotted taking phone calls and looking at his iphone. At one point he handed it to the first lady to show her something on it.
Jill Biden went on to read the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Demon Copperhead, which the book-loving first lady read in her spare time. She also made sure to slather on sunscreen and even took a walk to the water.

The film is a summer hit that generates buzz at awards shows.
“It was compelling,” Biden told reporters after finishing watching the three-hour epic.
They concluded the evening with a romantic walk on the beach to see the supermoon, which is when a full moon occurs near the closest point the Moon has to Earth in its monthly orbit. . The president had his arm around the first lady.
