Two of Australia’s best jockeys were rushed to hospital after being caught up in a horrific mid-race collision.
Jamie Kah and Craig Williams were racing at Flemington in Melbourne on Saturday when Kah’s horse fell, causing Williams’ horse to stumble during the Group Two Sires Produce Stakes (1400m).
Kah, who currently leads the Melbourne Jockeys’ premiership, was rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital in serious condition after her horse, Flyball, clipped the heels of race winner Veight.
She was “thrown” onto the grass, leaving her severely concussed from the fall.
The 27-year-old reportedly drifted in and out immediately after the incident, but he no longer has brain damage. racenet informed.

Kah’s partner, fellow jockey Ben Melham, who is also a jockey, rushed to his hospital bed after winning the next race.
“I’m going to put the cue on the shelf for the day and make sure it’s okay,” Melham said.
It’s just a reminder of how dangerous the job can be. Right now, winners don’t matter as long as everyone is okay.
Williams suffered a broken clavicle, broken ribs and a broken finger in addition to a concussion and was taken to Alfred Hospital.
Both Flyball and Williams’ horse Dubenenko were trampled by other horses after the fall.
The horses suffered minor abrasions and will be checked again by vets on Sunday.
Victorian Jockeys’ Association boss Matt Hyland described Kah’s fall as “quite serious.”
“She was unconscious for a period of time, but luckily she is conscious now,” he said.
Kah was meant to ride In Secret for the Group 1 Newmarket Handica but was replaced by Dean Holland.
The horse he was supposed to ride shot off with a $1.5 million Flemington Feature.

The Netherlands kept the celebrations to a minimum out of respect.
‘The last thing I wanted to do today, win, lose or tie (was continue). It’s very unfortunate what happened to Jamie and Willo,’ she said.
“My thoughts are with them, I was the lucky one who was able to ride light today and pick up the ride on one of Australia’s best sprinters.”
Saturday’s dramatic fall was the second in consecutive meetings at Flemington.
The latest incident has shaken the tight-knit Victorian racing community, especially its rider cohort.
