‘He found it hard to breathe’: Joanna Burgess reveals she and her footballer husband George were hit by Covid-19 and had VERY different experiences – as the family undergoes hotel quarantine










Joanna Burgess has revealed that she and her football star husband George Burgess have both been recently affected by Covid-19.

But while Joanna, 31, experienced the illness as nothing more than a cold, George, 29, had trouble breathing and needed a doctor’s visit in full protective clothing.

“We also had to self-isolate with the kids for two weeks when both my husband and I contracted Covid-19,” she says. The Daily Telegraph on Saturday.

“To me it felt like a terrible cold that lasted for a few days. George was worse than me, and he found it hard to breathe at one point,” she added.

“We had a doctor come to our house in a fully covered medical suit. They checked George’s oxygen levels and ran a few tests.

“Our kids never got the virus from us, but it was a little scary because I thought, if we got seriously ill or were hospitalized, where would our kids go?”

She went on to reveal that the family is now ‘all fit, healthy, happy and Covid-free’.

George Burgess and Joanna are in the process of moving back to Australia permanently, having moved to the UK in 2019.

Joanna is now in hotel quarantine with the couple’s daughters in Sydney, but had to travel separately from George and their four-year-old son Boston due to disability complications.

She has been locked up with Birdie, two, and Blainey, one, amid reports that her husband has signed a two-year contract with the St George Illawarra Dragons.

The family had moved to the UK in 2019, after George – who previously played as a prop for the South Sydney Rabbitohs – signed a three-year deal with England’s Wigan Warriors.

He played eight times in the 2020 season before leaving the club due to an ongoing hip injury.
