Actress Joan Benedict, who worked in television and theater for decades, has died at the age of 96.
Benedict died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on June 24 from complications following a stroke, a spokesman for the late actress’s family confirmed to The Associated Press. The Hollywood Reporter on Monday.
Benedict’s notable projects include Candid Camera, the original Steve Allen Show, soap operas such as General Hospital and Days of Our Lives, and a stage show in which she played the late hotelier Leona Helmsley.
Benedict had several high-profile relationships in Hollywood. She was married to actor John Myhers, of How to Succeed in Business Without Trying Too Hard, from 1962 until he died of pneumonia in May 1992.
Benedict was also married to Academy Award winner Rod Steiger from 2000 until July 2002, when he died as a result of pneumonia and kidney failure.
