Jimmy Buffett dead at 76: Legendary ‘Margaritaville’ singer ‘passed away peacefully surrounded by family, friends, music and dogs’
Legendary singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett died Friday at the age of 76.
An announcement was made on his official Twitter account on Friday evening: “Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs.
“He lived his life like a song until his last breath and he will be missed beyond measure by so many.”
The two-time Grammy nominee, best known for his song Margaritaville, revealed in May that he had been hospitalized “to address some issues that required immediate attention.”
“Getting old is not for sissies, I promise you that,” the 76-year-old billionaire tweeted at the time.
