Comedian Jim Jefferies responded to a broadside from Melbourne radio star Marty Sheargold.
The controversial Triple M presenter mocked the presenter of Seven’s The 1% Club after he failed to show up for an interview on Monday.
“If I knew who Marty Sheargold was, I would be really upset about this whole incident,” Jefferies joked after being asked about the controversy.
The 47-year-old Australian comedian, based in the United States, made the comment during an interview on the Canberra show. Mix 106.3 on Monday.
That same morning, Jefferies was supposed to appear on Triple M to promote a draw for the Australian leg of his latest stand-up show.

“Get your fingers out of your ar*e and do your job, that’s what you’re here for,” Sheargold angrily told listeners after Jefferies allegedly failed to show up.
He continued: ‘Sell tickets to your own show. It’s not my responsibility to sell you tickets, you idiot!’
After listening to a playback of Sheargold’s spray, Jefferies joked, “Now I feel bad for saying I don’t know who Marty is.”

“I don’t have a problem with that,” he said, before sarcastically joking, “I feel like that’s the appropriate response to not showing up.”
“I’ve never met him, nor do I know what he’s like, but it seems like he’s very angry with me, so he obviously knows me,” Jefferies said during the chat with CBR Wrapped hosts Rod Cuddihy and Gabi Elgood.
Elsewhere in the chat, Jefferies explained that his ‘non-show’ on Triple M was just a mix-up.

He had informed his management that he would be too tired to make appearances after flying in from the US.
However, Jefferies had agreed to do telephone interviews for the radio.
“For some reason that information was not conveyed to Marty,” Jefferies said.
“And Marty got upset and all the other radio stations knew what happened.”
Triple M is presenting Jefferies’ Give ‘Em What They Want tour in Australia and the station debuted new interviews with the comedian to promote the shows on Monday.
“If I knew who Marty Sheargold was, I would be very angry about this whole incident.”
He added: “I’ve never been on the show before, so Marty and I have no relationship; they talk about me like they’ve known me for years.”
