A gym has divided Australians after notifying its customers that crocodiles and slides were banned.
Jetts Fitness Freedom gym in Gold Coast, Queensland, posted a sign at the front of its gym explaining that Crocs and Slides were considered inappropriate footwear.
“Please note that Crocs and Slides are not accepted as footwear,” the sign said.
“If you are caught wearing the wrong shoes, we will ask you to leave the gym.”
A gym-goer shared a photo of the sign on Reddit on Saturday and said he agreed with the gym’s footwear policy.
“I agree, when going to a gym people should always wear sneakers,” they wrote.
Others agreed with the gym sign, claiming the rule is for insurance purposes and also helps customers avoid injuries.
‘I work cleaning in a gym and it is a safety issue. Not only to protect your feet, but also to protect others from the odors, bacteria and fungus of your sweaty feet,” one person commented.
A gym has divided Australians after notifying its customers that crocodiles and slides were banned.
“Not practical at all in the gym. Closed-toe shoes have always been the standard,” a second person wrote.
“Fair enough, they don’t want to pay for the damages caused by this unnecessary behavior,” a third chimed in.
A fourth joked: ‘Good. “Anyone who uses any of them should be jailed immediately.”
However, others argued that Crocs provided more protection than the average sneaker.
“I can’t stand crocodiles, but dropping a 20kg weight on a crocodile-covered foot versus a sneaker-wearing foot will give the same result!” one person wrote.

“More padding and protection on a crocodile top than a runner top,” a second person added.
A third said: “I’d rather have something fall on my feet because I had crocodile shoes on instead of trainers.”
Some people reported that wearing Crocs helped them maintain proper form when performing certain exercises such as squats and deadlifts.
