Jetstar is expanding its network by introducing new routes to New Zealand, with discounted tickets available to celebrate the launch.
From June 2025, the airline will add direct flights from the Gold Coast to Hamilton and Dunedin in New Zealand.
The new services are planned to operate three times a week.
This will be Jetstar’s first service to Hamilton and will give Australians access to popular North Island destinations such as Hobbiton, Bay of Plenty and Rotorua.
The new Gold Coast to Dunedin route will also improve access to the South Island’s second largest city.
Jetstar has also announced a new route to Hamilton, departing from Sydney.
Queensland Airports Limited chief executive Amelia Evans said the new trans-Tasman routes offered Australians more choice.
“New Zealand is Australia’s largest international visitor market, so it makes sense for us to increase our trans-Tasman connectivity. We are proud that we will be Australia’s best-connected airport to New Zealand,” Evans said.

It is the first time Jetstar will fly to the city of Hamilton (pictured), giving Australians access to popular North Island holiday spots including Hobbiton, the Bay of Plenty and Rotorua.
‘These services are expected to carry more than 115,000 passengers a year to the Gold Coast, connecting the city to Dunedin for the first time and re-establishing the airport’s first route to Tasmania, to Hamilton.’
Queensland Tourism Minister Michael Healy said the airfare sale was a “win” for New Zealand travellers as it makes Australia more accessible to tourists.
“What a win for New Zealand travellers who can now access these new affordable, scheduled flights, allowing them to visit Queensland and explore this great state without breaking their budget,” Healy said.
‘The new services will make Gold Coast Airport Australia’s most connected to New Zealand, with more routes for incoming visitors and students, and with air cargo returning via Tasmania.
‘Almost half a million Kiwis crossed the ditch to visit Queensland in the year ending March 2024, setting a second consecutive visitor spending record with $821 million in overnight visitor spending.’
The Gold Coast-Dunedin route will also boost tourism in the South Island’s second-largest city.
The airline is holding a route launch sale, offering discounts on new trans-Tasman flights.
Australian and New Zealand travellers are encouraged to take advantage of the offer, which ends at 10am on Tuesday.
