Jerry Seinfeld slammed his children’s former private school after they said they would allow “emotionally distressed” children to take the day after the election off.
Children who attend the Ethical Culture Fieldston school, which costs $65,540 a year in fees, will be excused from classes next Thursday.
In an email titled “Election Day Support,” Upper School Principal Stacey Bobo said she “recognizes that this may be an emotional and high-risk time” for them.

He said, ‘That’s why the kids hated him.’ What kind of life have these people led that makes them think this is the right way to treat young people?
—To encourage them to give in. This is the lesson they are giving, in exchange for ungodly sums of money.’
Parent John Couchman, who has two daughters at the school, told the Times he thought the school’s plan was sound.
He said: “I think it’s absolutely the right decision.” These students are very clever. I think their rights are at stake, whether it’s on election night or five years from now, and they know it.’
The email went on to say that no homework would be assigned on Election Day and no assessments would be given on Wednesday.
Absences will be allowed on Wednesday, or when full election results are announced, for students who are unable to “fully participate in classes.”
The outlet reported that the school included readings from the Child Mind Institute about the election and how to help children with “election-related anxiety.”
The school, which has two campuses in the city, is home to around 1,700 people and earlier this year was riven by pro-Palestinian activism.
That behavior led to the resignation of the school’s principal, Joe Algrant, in August, with the schools saying he left to “pursue other personal and professional goals.”

When his son organized a Holocaust survivor to come speak, Levkoff claimed in an Instagram post that a group of students tried to “cancel” the event.

During a town hall in November 2019, guest speaker Kayum Ahmed, director of the philanthropic organization Open Society Foundations, compared what Jews endured during the Holocaust to violence against Palestinians in Israel.
‘I use the same example when I talk about the Holocaust. “That the Jews who suffered the Holocaust and established the State of Israel today perpetuate violence against the Palestinians,” Ahmed said.
A spokesperson for the school previously told DailyMail.com: “We do not tolerate anti-Semitism and oppose all forms of hate.”
