Jerry Seinfeld continues to promote his new movie Unfrosted, where he took a not-so-subtle shot at Howard Stern.

The 70-year-old comedian has appeared on Dana Carvey and David Spade. Fly on the wall podcast, where he questioned whether Stern essentially invented podcasting.

‘Howard Stern invented this, right? But now we are better than him. Howard is interesting. Howard is a great interviewer, but he has a talent for comedy, I mean, can we talk candidly? Seinfeld asked, as Spade said, “Sure,” but Carvey said, “No!”

Carvey added, “Well, he got Robin, and Robin is a big part of how funny he is,” referring to Stern’s former co-host Robin Quivers.

‘Yes, they’re all great, but let’s face it, it’s been surpassed by some… and yourselves, I mean absolutely, this show, comedy podcasts?’ This is the best one that’s on the air,’ she said.

Seinfeld’s representatives issued a statement to DailyMail.com, admitting: “I really feel bad about what I said about my friend Howard Stern in a conversation with David Spade and Dana Carvey, talking about too many comedy podcasts.”

‘I meant that he should feel surrounded, but I said “flanked”, which sounded terrible and insulting. And of course, none of these small shows pose a threat to your giant show. Anyway, it was wrong and I’m sorry, Howie. I still love you. “Please forgive me,” Seinfeld concluded.

Seinfeld added: “Because you guys play well together, it’s fluid, you don’t jump all over each other, which is annoying to hear.”

The comedian also reflected on the boom in comedian podcasts: ‘Who knew there was a market? Who knew people wanted to meet us? Who is credited with discovering it?

He also criticized comedians who delve into their personal lives instead of making people laugh.

‘Jesus Christ, make us laugh, how interesting do you think you are?’ You’re not that interesting, okay? You are not. When you’re funny, you’re worth it. This is my line, you know me, you know me, no but you know that I draw that line. If you’re not that funny, we’re not that interested in you.”

Seinfeld had been a frequent guest on Howard Stern’s radio show in the ’90s, but faced criticism in 1993, when the comedian, then 38, began dating 17-year-old Shoshanna Lonstein.

Stern mocked the relationship, saying, “So you sit in Central Park and have a candy bar tied to a string and you throw it when the girls come over?”

Seinfeld insisted, “She’s not 17, definitely not,” and the comedian reportedly met her just a month before she turned 18.”

A dispute reportedly ensued, with Stern even attacking Seinfeld in a song about his girlfriend being ’17 with a double D’ in an undated song that recently appeared on reddit.

They would eventually reconcile at some point, with Stern appearing on Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and Seinfeld returning to Stern’s show in the 2010s.

Seinfeld also made headlines recently when he revealed had considered casting three-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis for the film, who has been retired since 2017.

‘I was going to ask Daniel Day-Lewis. “I wanted him to play: we have a drug trafficker who controls all the sugar in the world, his name is El Sucre,” Seinfeld explained.

“I wanted Daniel Day-Lewis to play him as Daniel Plainview from There Will Be Blood. I wanted him to do that, but I never called him,” Seinfeld admitted.
