Boateng wrote in a letter published on his social media on Thursday: ‘There are many pages to fill as we look back on ten years at FC Bayern.

‘When I got here, my goal was to compete against the world’s (sic) best, play in the Champions League and become a starter at the club. But to be honest, I could never have dreamed of everything we have achieved in the past ten years.

Looking back at the time now somehow feels unreal. I’ve had the chance to work with so much talent, so many great characters on and off the field. I am more than grateful that I had the chance to do this and win it all.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me all these years, through ups and downs, through times of injuries, when maybe not everyone believed in me and some already wrote me off.
