Jeopardy! viewers were distracted during Tuesday night's game

Jeopardy! viewers were baffled by the unusual tactics employed by contestant Will Weiss, who kept his wrists crossed for most of the episode, leading fans to jokingly wonder if he was wearing handcuffs.

The Islip, New York, tech show director maintained his “unique stance” for much of Tuesday night’s show, only deviating from it during conversations with host Ken Jennings.

Will’s “innovative” game plan proved a distraction for fans, who set out to understand why he decided to hit the buzzer with his arms crossed, with some urging him to “break those chains.”

“Oh my god, Will is in handcuffs,” one viewer said on X, before adding: “Maybe during the break someone will find the key to Will’s handcuffs.”

Another observed: “Will has a pretty unique ring stance tonight.”

Alongside a gif of Ross Geller from the sitcom Friends, a third joked: “Break those chains, Will!”

A fourth commented: “Interesting doorbell ringing, Will.”

On Reddit, one said: ‘I love it when someone takes an innovative yet clever approach to the buzzing technique, and Will’s crossed wrists are a unique take on Fritz Holznagel’s advice of providing support for the buzzing arm to prevent the entire arm from moving.’

Another replied: ‘Petition to call out Will’s ‘Gangnam Style’ doorbell technique.’

Will, who ended up winning with an impressive final score of $14,000, kept quiet about his approach to the buzzer but revealed that he could have participated in the show two decades ago.

Speaking to host Ken, he said: “Twenty years ago, I qualified and was eligible to be on during the season when you were on your historic run.”

Ken asked, “So, were you expecting that call or were you hoping not to get it?”

“It was,” Will replied. “And thinking back on your career, would it have been competitive?”
