Jenson Button’s model ex-wife Jessica Michibata arrested in Japan ‘for possession of MDMA’

The ex-wife of former F1 driver Jenson Button, model Jessica Michibata, has been arrested for alleged possession of MDMA in Japan.
The 38-year-old woman was arrested after a package containing MDMA was ordered from the hotel where she was staying with an acquaintance, people familiar with the investigation said, according to the Japan times.
Michibata denies the allegations, according to local media reports.
A customs officer reportedly found the synthetic drug hidden in an overseas package to Japan, with the Michibata Hotel in Tokyo as the shipping address.
Investigators from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department raided the hotel and arrested the two people.

Michibata, 38, (pictured), was arrested after suspicions she had solicited MDMA while staying at a hotel in Tokyo with an acquaintance, people familiar with the investigation said Monday.
Michibata currently lives in the United States but was born in Japan.
A statement from her Revive modeling agency on Monday read:
We apologize to everyone for any concerns caused by the reports from Jessica Michibata, who belongs to our company.
‘We are currently unable to contact Michibata directly and are collecting information to confirm the facts.
“Since the incident is being investigated by the police, we will refrain from disclosing any further details.”
Michibata met F1 driver Jenson Button in 2008 at a hotel bar in Tokyo and they began dating eight months later.
They separated for a short time in 2011 before he proposed to her on Valentine’s Day 2014, with a ring worth £250,000.
They got married in a lavish Hawaiian ceremony in December 2014.
They broke up just a year later, but say they remain on good terms.
