Following Jennifer Lopez’s divorce petition from Ben Affleck on Tuesday, Dailymail.com takes a closer look at the financial fallout from the split for the couple, whose combined net worth is estimated at $640 million.
Tuesday’s appearance came after months of speculation surrounding the relationship between the A-list singer and actress, 55, and the actor and director, 52, with their relationship troubles dominating Hollywood headlines in recent months.
Lopez filed divorce papers to end her marriage to Affleck without an attorney in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday. TMZ reported, adding that sources said there is “no prenuptial agreement” between the couple, and Lopez did not mention one in the legal documents.
Lopez, who listed a separation date of April 26, 2024, in court documents, filed the paperwork on the second anniversary of her nuptials at Affleck’s estate outside Savannah, Georgia, on Aug. 20, 2022.
The absence of a prenuptial agreement means that any earnings the stars made during their two years together would be classified as “community property,” TMZ reported.

Affleck’s projects in that span include the 2023 films Air and Hypnotic, while he has completed filming The Accountant 2.
In court documents, Lopez said she was waiving spousal support and asked the court not to give any to Affleck either, according to the outlet.
Lopez and Affleck “have been trying to come to an agreement for months,” according to the outlet, adding that sources close to the deal said negotiations have been “increasingly acrimonious” at times, with the two not getting along with each other directly.
Last month, The explosion reported that Lopez had been “preparing for a messy divorce” and that her goal was to acquire half of Affleck’s $150 million estate.
Lopez had footed many of the bills during the two-year marriage, sources close to the couple said. Online radar in July, noting that Affleck had “complained about spending money.”
Sources told Radar Online that amid the split, Lopez felt Affleck had “taken advantage” of her wealth, and subsequently “demanded a complete inventory of what she spent versus what he spent and wants all the money back that she ‘invested.'”

Lopez, spotted in New York in July, had been “preparing for a messy divorce,” sources told The Blast.

The source said Lopez’s quest for financial compensation was a direct response to Affleck’s behavior following the end of their relationship.
“If he had continued the marriage like a good guy, she wouldn’t have cared,” the source said. “But he left her and ultimately Jennifer always gets her revenge and is now willing to play hardball.”
The source told the outlet that “one of the little-known secrets is that Jennifer paid for a lot of their marriage expenses and now feels like he owes her” and is detailing the expenses he made during the relationship.
The source said, ‘Ben took a lot of money from her, at least that’s what she’s saying… she’s adding up all those private jet bills he puts on her credit card, the hotels, the meals, the clothes, the coffees, the gas.
“The high cost of living was on her own. She also paid for most of the $60 million mansion they bought.”
