A jeep plowed through a Black Lives Matter march along a highway near Denver on Saturday morning, just before a demonstrator shot a gun and injured at least two other protesters, police said.

One of the demonstrators who was shot during the chaos on Interstate 225 in Aurora was taken to a hospital in a stable condition.

The other demonstrator who was injured showed up at the hospital with a wounded wound, Aurora police tweeted that night.

A woman who also appeared to be dodging the Jeep fell 20 feet off the highway when she got to safety, witnesses said.

The shooter is now being searched, who according to witnesses has opened fire to stop the jeep.

A driver and passenger from the jeep were arrested after police later found and towed the vehicle. Neither has been identified.

Protesters, after the highway protest in Aurora ended in chaos on Saturday night, also broke windows in the local courthouse, where a fire had started in an office, police said.

According to authorities, an illegal meeting has been declared and police ordered protesters to leave the area.

Tensions have been mounting during recent protests against racial injustice as federal officials were sent to quell demonstrations in Portland, Oregon. Police also declared a riot in Seattle on Saturday.

Protests brought on by the death of May 25 by George Floyd, a black man in Minnesota who died after a white officer knocked him to the ground with a knee on his neck, have also revealed other cases of deadly police brutality.

Saturday night’s march on I225 was held to draw attention to the death of Elijah McClain, a black man arrested by police while walking down Aurora Street in August 2019 after a 911 caller suspected him reported.

Police placed him in a chokehold and paramedics administered 500 milligrams of ketamine, a sedative, to calm him down. He suffered cardiac arrest and was later declared brain dead and living.

One of the agents involved in McClain’s arrest last August was fired earlier this month after receiving photos of three officers mocking and reenacting the murder outside the 23-year-old monument.

Aurora Police announced on July 3 that Jason Rosenblatt has been fired, along with agents Erica Marrero and Kyle Dittrich for their involvement in the October 2019 incident.

A fourth officer, Jaron Jones, who also appeared in the pictures, resigned days prior to a pre-disciplinary hearing.

Rosenblatt, who was one of three Aurora police officers involved in McClain’s fatal arrest, did take part in the photos but ended after receiving them in a text message and replied, “ HaHa. ”

Aurora Interim Chief Vanessa Wilson first published the photos publicly, revealing that Jones pretended to put Dittrich in a chokehold, while Marrero watches and laughs.

All three officers were on duty and uniform at the time.

They were taken two months after 23-year-old McClain, a massage therapist who loved animals and taught himself how to play the guitar and violin, died after police detained him in a chokehold on August 24.

“We are ashamed, we are sick and we are angry,” Chief Wilson said at a news conference on Friday. “While the charges of this internal affair are not criminal, it is a crime against humanity and decency.”

“It shows a lack of morals, values and integrity, and judgment. I can no longer trust them to wear this badge, ”she added.
