“Liam Neeson is back!” Star Wars fans are pushed to light speed levels with excitement as legendary Jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn returns for the final episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi

Star Wars fans were treated to a blast from the distant Jedi this week when the final episode of the spin-off series Obi-Wan Kenobi aired on Disney+.

The show, which sees Ewan McGregor dusting off his cape and reprising his role as the titular Jedi master, finally came to an end Wednesday night after a preliminary six-episode run.

And viewers, unanimously praising the sci-fi show, were treated to the return of the legendary lightsaber starring Qui-Gon Jinn, played by Liam Neeson.

The ponytailed character, who helped train Obi-Wan in the ways of the Force and unhappily tried to do the same with a young Anakin Skywalker, was memorably slaughtered during a duel with Darth Maul in the blockbuster Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom. Menace from 1999.

But he was back to accompany his old comrade, albeit as a ghostly presence, when Obi-Wan paid a visit to Luke Skywalker, the son Anakin fathered before going to the Dark Side and subsequent transformation into Darth Vader.

“I was beginning to think you’d never come,” an unflappable Obi-Wan jokes when Qui-Gonn’s apparition shows up while traveling through the deserts of the remote planet Tattooine.

“He could now be part of things that pay off long after the Skywalker saga, in a new part of the galaxy we haven’t seen yet.”

A second added: ‘The final was great. But it begs for a season 2. There’s room in canon for it. And let Liam Neeson play a bigger role!’
