‘We were really looking forward to celebrating all our friends and family there. But we had to change all of our wedding plans because of COVID, ”said Mai, who originally planned to marry Jeezy in Italy.

She revealed that the sudden death of Jeezy’s mother Sandra Rose in February inspired them to scrap their previous wedding plans and move on with a ‘mini money’.

After Jeezy’s mother passed away unexpectedly, we soon learned that life is too short. And at the end of the day, Jeezy and I really just wanted to be husband and wife.

“So we decided to turn our original wedding into a mini money, where we exchanged our vows in front of our close family and some close friends,” she explained.

Despite the magnitude of their ceremony, that didn’t stop the now-married couple from saving up on luxuries, including custom bride and groom ensembles.

Jeannie walked down the aisle – more precisely the grand staircase of her sprawling Atlanta hometown – in a gorgeous Galia Lahav gown, complete with a dramatic veil and her friend Rosalina Lydster’s custom diamond earrings.

“I imagined this dress before it was made,” the Emmy Award-winning presenter recalled her personal outfit. ‘I can’t believe it turned out so perfect. It’s the prettiest dress I’ve ever seen. ‘

Jeannie told the outlet that she was ‘dressed only before I walked down the aisle’ because ‘the silence calms me down’, adding that she was ‘so grateful that I was in our own house when I got ready’.

“Jeezy insisted that my dad walk me down the aisle, and we were so glad he did,” she revealed. “My father is my rock.”

Known for his ultra-soft style, Jeezy turned the groom’s traditional silhouette upside down by wearing a satin light pink suit.

He topped off his wedding day ensemble with a black bow tie, matching pocket square and crisp white shirt, all put together for him by his tailor Teofilo Flor and stylist Chris Shelby.

Jeannie and Jeezy adhered to COVID-19 safety protocols and made sure that all their guests, who were asked to wear off-white, were tested twice for the virus before attending the ceremony.

To prevent details of their marriage from being leaked to the public, the couple had their family and friends “ leave their phones at the door. ”

As for the ceremony, it was important for Jeannie to pay tribute to her Vietnamese heritage by recording a traditional tea ceremony hosted by her brother.

During this ceremony, we honored our parents by pouring tea as a gesture of welcoming Jeezy into my family and me into his. Then we paid tribute to our parents and ancestors by bending four times, each symbolizing an important gift in the life they have given us, ”she recalls.
