JD Vance has called far-right commentator Nick Fuentes “a total loser” for his racist comments about his Indian wife Usha.
Vance also said Donald Trump, who previously dined with Fuentes, has criticized the far-right commentator.
Fuentes stoked ire on the right when he criticized Vance for having an Indian wife, questioning whether “we really expect (Vance), who has an Indian wife and named his son Vivek, to support white identity.”
Vance lashed out at Fuentes in an interview on Sunday, saying he “disowns” him but wants to focus on the important issues of his and Trump’s campaign against Kamala Harris.
He said of Fuentes: “Of course Donald Trump has criticized this person. Look, I think the guy is a complete loser. I certainly disavow him.”

Vance told CBS he believes the best policy for stopping people like Fuentes is to “ignore it.”
“But if you ask me what I’m most concerned about, is it a person attacking me personally or is it a government policy that discriminates on the basis of race? That’s what I’m really concerned about, it’s bad government policy that harms people based on their immutable characteristics,” he said.
However, he acknowledged that “a lot of losers are going to attack me and attack my family.”
“I think the right response is to ignore them. Trolls should not be fed and they will largely disappear,” he added.
Trump dined with Fuentes and Kanye West at his Mar-a-Lago resort in 2022, prompting widespread condemnation from both parties.

“This is a fucking nightmare,” said one longtime Trump adviser who spoke anonymously.
Ye also confirmed that Trump was “impressed” with Fuentes in a video posted on Twitter.
“Trump is really impressed with Nick Fuentes, and Nick Fuentes, unlike a lot of the lawyers and a lot of the people he stuck with on his 2020 campaign, is actually a loyalist,” Ye said.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he did not know Fuentes before the meeting and offered an explanation for meeting with the rapper.
“Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, was asking me for advice on some of his difficulties, particularly those involving his business,” Trump wrote in the post.

During one of his live-streamed episodes, he allegedly compared Jews being cremated in concentration camps to cookies in the oven.
Fuentes’ platform heavily pushes to preserve white, European-American identity and culture, and pushes the conspiracy theory that the white race is imminently being destroyed through white genocide.
He once said: “I don’t see Jews as Europeans and I don’t see them as part of Western civilization, particularly since they are not Christians.”
Trump was convicted of dining with Ye and Fuentes in 2022, although the former president said he did not know in advance the identity of Ye’s companion.
Usha Vance is an Ivy League-educated litigator who once clerked for Chief Justice John Roberts.
The couple first met when they were both students at Yale Law School in 2013. In his book Hillbilly Elegy, Vance describes her as his “Yale spiritual guide.”
They married the year after graduating from law school in 2014 and had their first child, Ewan Blaine, in 2017.
They also have a second son, Vivek, and welcomed a daughter, Mirabel, in December 2021. The couple is raising their three children in Cincinnati.
Vance, the daughter of Indian immigrants and whose real name was Usha Chilukuri, was raised in suburban San Diego by a mechanical engineer and a biologist. She has said she was raised in a religious Hindu family.
