A new clip of JD Vance complaining about egg prices at a supermarket campaign stop has prompted some to claim he has his facts mixed up.
Vance was at a grocery store in Reading, Pennsylvania, earlier this weekend as he tries to flip the state in his and Donald Trump’s favor in November.
While surveying the market with his two children, Vance headed to the egg section and used it as an example of how Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s inflation is driving up prices.
“If you look at the prices here, things are too expensive, and they’re too expensive because of Kamala Harris’ policies,” he said.
Then his son interrupted him and seemed to point to the egg cartons behind him.
“Yeah, buddy. You want eggs? Let’s talk about eggs. Because these kids eat about 14 eggs every morning,” Vance said, pointing at the boys.
A new clip of JD Vance complaining about egg prices at a supermarket campaign stop has prompted some to claim he has his facts mixed up.
While surveying the market with his two children, Vance headed to the egg section and used it as an example of how Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s inflation is driving up prices.
He then tried to put pressure on Harris: “When Kamala Harris took office, eggs were less than $1.50 a dozen. Now a dozen eggs cost about $4,” he said.
“Thanks to Kamala Harris’ inflationary policies, Pennsylvania has actually seen some of the worst food price increases in the entire country, and again, it’s because she cast a decisive vote on the inflation-busting bill,” Vance said, according to Maher’s report, Vance added.
However, some eagle-eyed viewers spotted in the clip that Vance was after evidence that his own claims about inflation were inflated.
They said that several boxes of a dozen eggs were being sold on the market for $2.99.
However, Vance is technically right about the overall price of eggs in Pennsylvania, which average about $4.52, according to SoFi Learnsciting the Consumer Price Index.
However, the Internet immediately highlighted the hypocrisy of the video and attacked the Ohio senator.
“He’s a liar! This was the price he had listed while lying! $2.99 a dozen,” wrote one social media user.
“They did all that and then forgot to remove the price tags from the eggs before recording a video in which he lied about the price of the eggs,” wrote another.
In his article on the economy, the vice presidential candidate shared his experience from a day earlier, when he walked into a Pennsylvania grocery store and noticed that prices were “too high.”
However, some eagle-eyed viewers saw in the clip that Vance was after evidence that his own inflation claims were inflated. They pointed out that several dozen-egg boxes were on sale at the market for $2.99.
“We are very lucky that they are so incompetent.”
Vance continued that sentiment, adding that “the price of ground beef went from just under $4 a pound to $6 a pound because Harris cast the deciding vote” on what he called the “Inflation Explosion Act.”
“She says that on day one she will address the affordability crisis affecting American families.”
Vance added: “Kamala, Day 1 was 1,400 days ago. What the hell have you been doing all this time? Stop talking about what you’re going to do and go out and do it.”
The US inflation rate at the end of August 2024 was 2.5 percent, its lowest level since February 2021. The morning call information.
Eggs aside, Vance has had a good weekend on the campaign trail, as his meeting with Tucker Carlson was a huge success, even though the thousands who turned out to attend suffered massive delays because there were only eight metal detectors to screen 6,000 people.
Saturday’s event in Hershey, Pennsylvania, featured a large crowd that watched the former Fox News host and Republican vice presidential candidate discuss the 2024 election and the state of modern America.
But the 8 p.m. event at the city’s Giant Center did not start until 10 p.m. because of the security delay, which comes after two assassination attempts on Donald Trump over the summer.
Technically, Vance is right about the price of eggs overall in Pennsylvania, which average around $4.52, according to SoFi Learn, citing the Consumer Price Index. However, the Internet pointed out the immediate hypocrisy in the video and pounced on the Ohio senator.
Many of the guests praised the spectacle itself. The media were only allowed to film the first few minutes of the event.
That led Vance to insist that polls were skewed in favor of liberals and to criticize modern American lawmakers for being out of touch with ordinary people.
During the chat, the pair exchanged laughs and made fun of each other’s career paths, with both agreeing that they “don’t even know what they’re doing right now.”
Vance then went on to refer to the American people as “poor in their own country,” blaming the current administration’s leadership for high interest rates that make it “too expensive” to own property.
The Ohio senator also claimed that election polls are misleading after citing an inconsistency in polling from Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, which predicted the former president would lose Wisconsin by 17 points, a state he later won.
Vance said it’s not just food prices that are too high, “everything is more expensive and people can’t afford to meet their basic needs because of Harris’ policies.”
Vance also blamed the Biden-Harris border policy for allowing drug trafficking from Mexico.
Carlson’s visit is part of a national tour featuring conservative guests including Donald Trump Jr., Glenn Beck and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
