Internet sleuths have claimed that Donald Trump’s vice presidential nominee JD Vance loves wearing eyeliner.
The Hillybilly Elegy author has been accused of using a thin layer of black makeup to make his eyes appear bluer.
Several photographs shared online claim to provide definitive proof that Vance is a fan of eyeliner, the most commonly used eyeliner by women.
Photojournalist Zach Roberts claimed to have definitive proof, writing: “I really thought people were joking about this, but then I photographed it last week. Vance is wearing 100% eyeliner.”

The photo on the left shows Vance with paler eyelid rims, but during a recent television appearance they appeared to have become much darker.
Roberts shared a close-up that she insisted showed the makeup line as proof.
And she praised Vance for his alleged choice of makeup, saying it enhanced the 39-year-old’s rugged appearance.
Roberts wrote: “I really thought people were joking about this but then I photographed it last week. Vance is wearing 100% eyeliner.”
According to The Independent, one TikToker claimed to have found Vance’s exact eyeliner shade.
But his insistence that the Republican lawmaker uses a tone called “desperation,” from Urban Decay, suggests he was joking.
Jimmy Fallon joked about rumors that Vance would wear makeup on his show, and the lawmaker was accused of hypocrisy for allegedly wearing eyeliner while taking a tough stance on transgender issues.
Vance has not commented on the makeup allegations, but if they were true, he would be in good company within the Republican Party.
Another photo shows the dark rims of Vance’s eyes, which one photographer said made the vice presidential hopeful’s blue eyes stand out.

His running mate, Donald Trump, 78, is so well known for his mahogany fake tan and dramatic blonde hair that the former president’s look has become iconic.
The eyeliner drama isn’t the first strange rumor to hit Vance.
Last week he was accused of having sex with a couch after internet pranksters claimed his book Hillbilly Elegy had detailed his attempts to have sex with a latex glove placed between two couch cushions.
The rumor is false, but it has still lit up the Internet.
Vance has faced more serious controversy over resurfaced comments he made in 2021 in which he claimed the United States was being run by a “bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable with their own lives and the choices they’ve made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, who has no children, was among those who criticized Vance for his comments.
Fans of Trump and Vance’s MAGA ticket have dismissed the rumors and drama as online nonsense that will have little influence on the vast majority of voters.
