After incoming Vice President JD Vance, 40, shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) on December 12 showing the back of Melania’s head, he appeared to reveal a portion of her extensions.
The Hillbilly Elegy author posted a behind-the-scenes look at Donald Trump and his wife watching the New York Stock Exchange on a TV.
“Ready to ring the bell at the NYSE,” the vice president-elect tweeted, before promising, “President Trump will lead a great American comeback!”
The former model is famous for her long brown hair and perfect hairstyles, but it seems like she may recently be adding volume with the help of extensions.
FEMAIL reached out to stylists to find out how the 54-year-old Slovenian-American has been changing up her beauty look in recent days.

“You can spot the telltale signs where natural hair meets the extensions, particularly visible in the midsection,” revealed Julia, who spent 15 years as a hairstylist specializing in extensions.

“I would say she’s probably wearing top quality European human hair extensions, probably 18 to 20 inches long,” Julia divulged.
Julia believes the installation appears to be a combined method or ‘hybrid system’, done using tape for volume and rows of individual beads for length.
Nurse Sarafina, UNice hairstylist and extension specialist, agreed that in the photo, “fullness and texture at the ends are often signs of added volume or length” and believes they could be “clips or tape-ins for the perfect look.”
“This is actually a very common option for public figures because it allows for versatile styling while maintaining natural movement,” Julia explained.
Even though the Ohio senator seemingly revealed the telltale signs of Melania’s extensions, overall, they’re pretty camouflaged.
“However, the color work is excellent – they match your natural shade perfectly, which is crucial for a perfect match,” praised Julia.
However, it doesn’t appear that the extensions are permanent, as Melania has shown off different hair lengths throughout her recent return to the public eye.
“What’s interesting is that at different public appearances you can see varying degrees of volume and length, suggesting that she probably alternates between different sets of extensions depending on the event and styling needs,” Julia agreed.

celebrity stylist Mia Santiagobased in New York City, agreed, telling DailyMail.com that these are extensions “absolutely.”
“Beyond being able to see what looks like tape in her hair, you can tell by the curl pattern,” Mia said. ‘The extensions can hold curls tighter than finer hair, so you can see where the real hair is less wavy and the extensions have more curl. That’s always a sign.
While Mia isn’t sure if Melania wears them all the time, she joked, “If I was a gambling girl, I’d put all my money in.”
Melania focuses on her hair and even visited the expensive John Frieda salon in New York City during the dispute between her husband and the FBI in 2022.
